Obama Hits Back, McCain Gets Grilled

Posted by Brian Becker on September 12, 2008

The 9/11 truce is over and the campaign is back in full swing.  Obama released three new ads today attacking John McCain for being out of touch and for being controlled by lobbyists and special interests. Theres also two new ads out from 527’s supporting Obama, one from The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund that skewers Sarah Palin on her support of shooting wolves from airplanes, and another from Planned Parenthood that hammers McCain for distorting the facts in his last ad that claimed he wanted to teach kindergarteners about sex. It then goes on to say McCain will say anything to get elected.

I hope this is a sign of whats to come from the Obama campaign. We need more hard hitting ads attacking McCain because the republicans have been ruthless for decades while the democrats sat there taking the punches hoping to claim moral high ground, eventually having their character bruised so badly they couldn’t climb back up the hill without falling on their faces. I have to admit though, these ads weren’t nearly as devastating as what McCain has been producing. Maybe because they aren’t lying about McCain’s record? Probably. The 527 ads are very hard hitting though. The Wolves ad is truly disturbing and it can potentially turn some voters away from the Palin fad.

One more thing that the Obama camp has jumped on is this comment McCain made at the Service forum last night:

Essentially McCain admitting hes out of touch with the American people. You can bet you will be seeing this in an ad in the coming weeks.

Senator McCain also went on The View today which turned out to be quite the grilling. If you haven’t seen it, you can check it out here. They ganged on him for lying in his ads, his stance on abortion, separation of church and state, and what exactly he means when he says he and Palin are going to reform Washington. Considering the type of show, I really didn’t expect the women of The View to ask him such hard hitting questions on the issues, and calling him out for his lies. He even defended himself with lies when talking about Palin’s earmarks. It seems the whole world is starting to realize McCain will say or do anything to win this election, and people are (hopefully) not going to let them get away with it this time.
